So, what are dental implants? A dental implant is an artificial tooth that replaces a tooth all the way to the root. These implants will typically have three parts: the implant, the abutment, and the crown.
The implant is the part that serves as the new root for your tooth. These are typically made from titanium alloy. The screw is what attaches to the jaw permanently to create a strong base for the other pieces to fit into.
Next, the abutment is the piece of the implant that connects the tooth to the implant base. This will secure and hold the tooth in place.
Lastly, the crown is the part you will see with your new smile. This piece is usually made from zirconium or porcelain for added durability.
